The folks over in Europe has just received the 2018 Ford EcoSport facelift. First making its global debut for the Asia Pacific, the Euro-spec EcoSport gets a sporty new trim model along with a turbo-diesel option.
Taking inspiration from Ford Performance, the ST-Line trim for the 2018 EcoSport gives the mini SUV several exterior upgrades. It gets unique front and rear bumpers, along with side skirts that highlight the EcoSport's ruggedness. Moreover, the EcoSport also gets black painted door handles, roof rails, side mirrors, headlight bezels and front grill. Rounding everything off are the 17-inch Dark Tarnish alloy wheels and ST-Line badging.
Inside, the EcoSport ST-Line comes with a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel along with unique partial leather seats with recycled suede made from polyester. Further sprucing up the EcoSport's interior comes courtesy of red contrast stitching on the handbrake lever and gear shifter, ST-Line branded door sill plates and stainless steel sport pedals.
As mentioned earlier, a new turbo-diesel engine is now available for the 2018 EcoSport. Called 'EcoBlue', the new four-cylinder turbo-diesel displaces 1.5-liters and puts out 125 PS and 300 Nm of torque. For now, a low-friction six-speed manual is the sole transmission option for the EcoBlue EcoSport. A six-speed automatic will be offered soon however.
Beside being available in front-wheel-drive, the EcoBlue can also be specified with Ford's Intelligent All Wheel Drive. It can adjust torque delivery between the two axles in as quick as 20 milliseconds and can split power delivery up to 50:50.
Other engines availble for the EcoSport include the 1.5-liter TDCi with 100 PS and the 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost that is available in three output ratings: 140 PS, 125 PS and 100 PS.
There is no word if Asia Pacific markets will get the new EcoBlue turbo-diesel.
