2018 Kia Stinger GT Line revealed with turbo-diesel power

2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine now available in the Kia Stinger

After making its world debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show with turbocharged gasoline engines, Kia's latest sports sedan is now available with diesel power. First revealed for the European market, the Stinger can now be specified with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel, along with the new GT Line trim model.

Beginning with its design, the GT Line essentially equips the Stinger with all of the exterior upgrades from the top-of-the-line GT sans the 3.3-liter bi-turbo V6. In addition, GT Line models come with dark chrome (instead of bright chrome) on the 'tiger-nose' grill surround, front lower grill, side fender vents and side mirror caps. A rear diffuser painted gloss black and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/50 tires complete the exterior equipment on the diesel Stinger.

As mentioned earlier, the Stinger can now be fitted with a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel inline-four with VGT. It generates 200 PS at 3800 rpm along with 440 Nm of torque that is available between 1750 – 2750 rpm. Mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the diesel-powered Stinger can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 225 km/h. It will be available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive

As far as interior features are concerned, the diesel-powered Stinger gets the same instrument panel and touchscreen infotainment system, as well as Drive Mode Select. Black leather upholstery comes as standard on the GT Line as nappa leather is only available for the top-spec GT. Beyond that, the GT Line can also come with two optional interior color packs (gray or red) and a black suede headlining.

The Kia Stinger will be on sale across select markets around the world later this year.
