Two months ago, Lexus' sole hatchback offering was given a mild update for the 2018 model year. Aside from getting a refresh inside and out, the 2018 CT 200h was also given a tech upgrade courtesy of new safety features, as well as a new infotainment system.
Now, Toyota Racing Development (TRD) finally got their hands on the 2018 CT 200h and gave it a major makeover. Using the F Sport version as a base, TRD fitted the hybrid with a subtle front lip spoiler along with side skirts that can be painted in either white or black.
It's at the back where TRD really worked their magic for the CT 200h. Immediately making their presence felt are the four quad exhaust pipes which are part of the custom rear diffuser. Like the rest of the bodykit, the diffuser is available in either black or white. What look like eyebrows for the taillights are actually called quarter panel spoilers. According to TRD, these straightens the airflow on the vehicle and reduces lift for better stability.
Rounding up the aesthetic upgrades are the new 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels. Beside being lighter than standard alloy wheels, TRD claimed these are actually more rigid and provides better maneuverability. Recommended tire size for the TRD alloys is 225/40/R18.
Aside from the exterior upgrades, TRD also fitted the CT 200h with a new sports suspension that comes with diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated shock absorbers. Compared to standard dampers, TRD says these are softer while at the same time have better handling. Working in tandem with the new sports suspension are the new brace mounts that reinforce the chassis from front to back.
