Audi has just revealed the next generation of their high performance wagon with the launch of the all new Audi RS6 Avant.
The new Audi RS6 Avant is based on the all new Audi A6 (C7), and will come as a 5-door wagon, and will be the third generation of the RS6 name. The exterior has been massaged to convey the powerful nature of the RS6 with wider wheel arches, more aggressive and more high tech details like brushed steel exterior accents.
The interior is properly premium befitting the Audi brand, but has been given the full carbon fiber treatment and upgraded with sport seats and a sport steering wheel. There's room for 5 inside, along with the space provided by the Avant body.
The biggest news with the RS6 is the engine. Audi have replaced the powerful twin turbo 5.0L V10 in the previous generation model with a twin turbo V8 displacing 4.0 liters instead. The powertrain comes with plenty of RS goodies and tech such as an 8-speed tiptronic transmission, RS-specific adaptive air suspension, quattro all-wheel drive with a sport differential.
Unusual as the downsized engine may sound, the all new Audi RS6 Avant delivers 560 horsepower and 700 Newton meters of torque. The RS6 Avant can outsprint the previous V10 powered model with a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds.
That says it all.
