If you've been craving for outright power and performance but don't want something that's too flashy, then this new car from Audi Philippines just might be for you.
PGA Cars, the official distributor of the Audi brand in the country, has just held the official launch of the all-new Audi RS5 at an exclusive event in . The new RS5 is the latest in a long line of souped-up performance cars based on the production models of Audi, featuring powerful twin-turbo engines and quattro all-wheel drive.
"The Audi RS 5 Coupé is a car that exudes character from its progressive design to its sporty interior," said Mr. Benedicto Coyiuto, Auto Philippines Head. "Not only does the new RS 5 define perfection in design, comfort and safety, it also delivers sophisticated performance one can only expect from Audi."
Audi has taken the standard A5 coupe, already a highly-rated two-door grand tourer, and turned up the heat. The standard A5 design, with its signature hexagonal grille and LED headlamps, are surrounded by more aggressive details that convey the power of the Audi RS badge. The RS5 starts with a wider body, larger openings on the bumper, carbon trim, a sportier body kit, bigger wheels with wider tires, a rear lip spoiler and the oval RS exhaust outlets.
The cabin has also been empowered with RS design elements, most notable of which is the black upholstery with red stitching for contrast. Audi has made changes to create the RS5 with pieces like the D-cut RS steering wheel and the Alcantara RS seats with improved bolstering for spirited driving. The interior, with its “wraparound” dash, is most definitely driver centric.
The high grade features of the A5 such as the RS-specific Audi virtual cockpit gauges, the advanced MMI infotainment system, the Bang & Oluften audio system, 3-zone climate control and more are all present in the RS5. For safety, the RS5 comes standard with X airbags, stability control, traction control, and many more. New for the RS5 line is the Pre-Sense safety suite that prepares the vehicle's safety systems in anticipation of a crash.
Central to the RS5, however, is its performance. Providing power is a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine that produces 450 PS and 600 Nm of torque. Handling all that performance is the latest quattro all-wheel drive system from Audi that can actively and intelligently transfer power to the wheel that can use it the most. Together with the upgrades Audi made to the suspension for the RS5, the quattro system, chassis, and suspension combine to deliver the performance expected of an RS model.
The 2018 RS5 is now available at Audi Philippines. Given the fluctuations in foreign exchange rates, pricing of the Audi RS5 is only released upon request.
