Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Corp. (STAR Corp.), the authorized Philippine distributor of BYD vehicles in the Philippines, marked another milestone in its operations as the group celebrated its 4th year anniversary with customers, employees, media partners and friends last September 28 at the BYD Shaw Showroom in Mandaluyong City.
Mark Andrew Tieng, STAR Corp. managing director welcomed everyone to the event. He also shared significant milestones that the company established from 2016 to 2017, and even gave a preview of what BYD has in store next with their new theme 'Driving to the Future'.
“We are grateful to all of you most especially to our clients, bank partners and media friends for your unceasing support. BYD Philippines has been in the country for four years now and we are proud to say that our customers are very happy and satisfied,” said Tieng.
Together with the celebrations, BYD also unveiled two new vehicles, the BYD S1 and their newest commercial vehicle, a lithium ion phosphate-powered forklift. Starting with the former, the S1 is BYD's lastest sub-compact crossover. Said to have a striking 'rebellious' look, the S1 has automatic halogen headlights with daytime running lights, and a right-side view camera.
Powering the S1 is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine which produces 110 PS and 240 Nm of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission comes standard.
Inside, an Android infotainment system comes standard together with leather seats and 6:4 split folding rear seats. An air purifer is also installed on the S1, keeping the system clean of dust and other impurities. Safety features found on the S1 include electronic stability program (ESP), hill decent control and cruise control to name a few.
Price for the BYD S1 is at Php 1,068,000, but has a special introductory price of Php 999,000. The S1 also comes with a 5-year warranty.
As for their lithium ion phosphate electric counterbalanced forklift, BYD says it is the one of best 'green' solution to business in the country. Unlike standard forklifts, which are usually powered by diesel, BYD's forklift uses a lithium ion phosphate battery to power it. Furthermore, it is also made of non-toxic materials unlike lead, making it safer for use.
Apart from the two new vehicles, BYD also launched the new 'Free 5-year PMS Oil Change Program'. The program is given free to customers who purchased a BYD S1 or a BYD S7 from July 29, 2017 onwards.
