About six months ago, our spies happened upon what appeared to be a prototype road car from Dallara. If the name rings a bell, that's because it is the same company that is famous for making open-wheeled and endurance race cars since 1972.
Now, the company has officially branched out to road cars with the all-new Stradale. It features an all carbon-fiber body along with a turbocharged four-cylinder that pushes out 400 PS. It weighs in at a light 855 kg thanks to the extensive use of the lightweight composites that . It can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 3.25 seconds before reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.
As for its design, the Stradale features a speedster body and comes with no windshield. However, it can be had with one, along with an optional T-bar roof that can make it into a targa. It can also be converted into a coupe by way of mounting gullwing doors. Moreover, a huge wing can also be placed at the rear which can generate 820 kg of downforce as claimed by Dallara.
Inside, the Stradale has a cockpit-style interior that emphasizes on the driving experience. It has a racing-style steering wheel, sport bucket seats, a digital instrument display and several toggle switches. It even gets racing harnesses as standard, along with integrated headrests.
Driving the Stradale is 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. It generates 400 PS at 6200 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm.
Only 600 units will be made in a span of five years.
