Earlier this year, we reported that Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will be under new management in the Philippines. Now, it is official.
JLR Asia Pacific Importers has just signed a binding contract with Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), appointing them the official importers of both brands with immediate effect.
With the contract signed, CMC have begun to lay the framework to boost Jaguar Land Rover's precense in the Philippines. CMC says that the appointment of their first dealership will be announced soon. The company is already planning for the opening of said dealership by the first quarter of 2018. The target opening of the first dealership also confirms the first report from July of this year. Prior to this announcement, the two British marques were managed by the same group that currently handles Ferrari, Maserati, and Aston Martin in the country.
CMC was established earlier this year with George T. Barcelon and Gerardo F. Alejandro, serving as the chairman and president, respectively. Also present during the event was Robin Colgan, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Importers for Jaguar Land Rover.
“We are indeed very pleased to commence our formal relationship with Coventry Motors as we strongly believe in their capability to make incredible headway in growing the Jaguar and Land Rover brands and market share in the Philippines,” said Colgan.
Colgan also reassured customers who bought officially imported Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will be accorded the same warranty and support by the new distribution network.
To commemorate this occasion, CMC introduced the Range Rover Velar which made its debut during this year's Geneva Motor Show and is the latest addition to the brand's line-up.
The Velar will be launched along with the Jaguar F-Pace and two more models next year.
