Some say that playng video games is just for passing time. E-games worldwide on the other hand would like to disagree. Should you happen to be very competitive in playing Gran Turismo Sport, you could win a trip of a lifetime to Japan.
Nissan recently announced that the top Nissan drivers from the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Manufacturer Series Chamipionship, which will take place in the Gran Turismo Sport PlayStation game, could win a trip to Japan. Specifically, they will be visiting the Nismo Festival at Fuji Speedway and Polyphony Digital headquarters, the developers behind the game, in Tokyo.
The competition is open to Gran Turismo Sport players all over the world. The top drivers in the Gran Turismo Manufacturers Series will then enter GT Sport Cup Global competition. Should you be the fastest Nissan racer from any of the following regions: the Americas, Asia/Oceania and Europe/Middle East). Apart from the global winners, an additional winner from the Nissan GT Sport Cup eracing competition in Europe will also be selected.
“We proved with the Nissan GT Academy that some of the fastest drivers in the world might never have had the opportunity to compete on a race track if it weren’t for gaming. These guys have gone from the couch to the cockpit and broken the traditional model of how to become a successful racing driver,” said Nissan's global motorsport director, Michael Carcamo.
The Gran Turismo Sport online championships are the first online esport championships sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile. This comes 10-years after the Nissan PlayStation GT Academy program was first introduced, giving gamers a chance to become real-life Nissan race car drivers. Some of which, have gone on to compete in endurance championships such as Blancpain.
