Ford Philippines has finally removed the wraps off of the much awaited Ford EcoSport subcompact crossover SUV.
Ford initially previewed the production model of the EcoSport at the 2013 Bangkok International Motor Show, but it took almost 10 months for the car to be formally launched in the Philippines.
The all-new Ford EcoSport is a new 5-seat subcompact crossover based off of the same platform as the Ford Fiesta. The crossover features many of the signature design touches that Ford has been known for lately. The EcoSport gets the a wide stance to complement the dynamic details, blacked out B-pillars, slim headlamps, a trapezoidal grille and has the spare wheel on the tailgate.
The EcoSport will be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5 liter Ti-VCT engine. The 1.5 liter Ti-VCT powerplant gets 110 PS and 142 Newton-meters of torque, and can be matched with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels.
The EcoSport measures 4280mm long, 1765mm wide and 1665mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2521mm. With the rear seats folded down, the EcoSport can accommodate as much as 705 liters of cargo or, as Ford claims, an entire washing machine.
The EcoSport does not (as of yet) have a 1.0-liter 3-cylinder turbo EcoBoost option nor will it be offered in the region (yet) with all-wheel drive.
