An all-black Ford Ranger will be making its world debut soon in Frankfurt. Simply called the Black Edition, the Blue Oval brand will only produce 2,500 examples and all will have a 'murdered-out' exterior.
Unlike standard models which have bits of chrome and other brightwork, the Black Edition went for a truly dark theme. The body itself is painted in a unique hue called 'Absolute Black' while the front grill, alloy wheels, sports bar, door handles and other exterior décor are painted black as well. All 2,500 units will be double cab bodies only, no single cab variants will be made for the Black Edition.
Aside from the blacked-out exterior, the Black Edition Ranger also gets a wide array of standard creature comforts and amenities too. These include dual-zone climate control, SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment with navigation, leather upholstery, front and rear parking sensors with reverse camera and even power-folding, heated side mirrors.
As always, there are two turbo-diesel choices available for the T6 Ranger. First up is the 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine which puts out 160 PS and 385 Nm of torque. Next is the more powerful 3.2-liter five-cylinder that generates 200 PS along with 470 Nm of torque. Both are available with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
“Ranger customers appreciate the vehicle’s tough, go-anywhere capability and its rugged good looks, and we expect this attractive new limited series to be snapped up within weeks,” said Hans Schep, general manager of commercial vehicles at Ford of Europe.
The 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show will run from September 14 until September 25.
