For fans of the Porsche 718 Boxster and Cayman that want more power from their two-seaters, the Stuttgart-based automaker has just released the new-generation GTS for both models. Both driven by an upgraded 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four, along with a mildly revised exterior and interior, the 2018 718 Boxster and Cayman GTS will deliver more pep for the open road.
Thanks to a newly-developed intake plenum and an optimized turbocharger, both the Cayman and Boxster GTS now produce 365 PS. This equates to 15 PS more than the current S versions and 35 PS more compared to the naturally-aspirated GTS models from the previous generation.
Reigning all that power comes courtesy of a six-speed manual gearbox. However, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is available as an option. Depending on the transmission chose, the GTS can either come with 419 Nm (manual) or 430 Nm (dual-clutch). When equipped with the latter, both the Cayman and Boxster can sprint from 0 - 97 km/h in a mere 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of nearly 290 km/h.
Other performance features available in the GTS include torque vectoring, rear-differential lock, Porsche Active Suspension and the Sport Chrono Package.
As far as the exterior changes are concerned, both the Cayman and Boxster GTS models come with tinted headlights and taillights while the model badges are finished in black. In addition, both the lower front and rear fascias are also painted black, as well as the exhaust tips on the centrally-mounted Sport Exhaust system. Completing it all are the 20-inch matte black alloy wheels that give the two-door a more menacing look.
Inside, the sport seats come with Alcantara inserts on the seat cushions while the chronometer from the Sport Chrono Package is mounted centrally on the dashboard. The headrests are embroidered with GTS logos while the steering wheel, center console armrest and door armrests also come with Alcantara trim.
Deliveries of the 2018 Porsche 718 Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS are expected to begin at around March 2018.
