Apart from the the all-new GT and GT350R Mustang, Ford also debuted the next generation F-150 Raptor at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

Dubbed by Ford Motor Company as the company's 'Toughest, Smartest and Most Capable Truck For Ultimate Off-Road Performance', the F-150 Raptor utilizes an array of technologies that include a tough yet lightweight body construction, a high-output EcoBoost powertrain and a refined suspension system and terrain management system.

The F-150 Raptor makes use of a high-strength steel frame unique to the pickup while the body utilizes a high-strength, military grade aluminum shell that saves up to 226 kg in weight. Up front, it has a distinct mesh grill highlighted by Ford lettering and a silver skid plate.

Over to the side, it has matte black wheel arches, sidesteps, Raptor lettering on the rear wheel arch and 17-inch wheels wrapped in next-generation BFGoodrich All-Terrain K02 tires. The rear section has dual exhaust pipes, Ford lettering on the tailgate and F-150/Raptor badging.

The interior carries over from standard models apart from some additions like paddle shifters and a roof mounted auxiliary control panel that manages the pickup's lights and air compressor.

Under the hood, the F-150 Raptor will be powered by a high-output version of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. Ford has yet to state the engine's official power ratings but they did however say that the EcoBoost engine will have more power than the current Raptor's 6.2-liter V8 that produces 416 PS and 587 Nm of torque. The engine will then be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a new AWD system with a torque-on-demand transfer case.

“The new transfer case offers better traction for a greater variety of terrain at low and high speeds – both on-road and off-road,” said Jamal Hameedi, Chief Engineer, Ford Performance.

Further upgrades done to the F-150 Raptor include standard FOX Racing Shox with customer internal bypass technology that automatically adjusts itself to damp and stiffen suspension travel over rough terrain, 3-inch diameter shock canisters that provide longer suspension travel and a new terrain management system that have six preset modes: Normal, Street, Weather, Mud, Baja and Rock.

The next generation Ford F-150 Raptor will be built at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant and will go on sale near the end of 2016.
