After introducing the Civic Type R as well as the NSX, Honda is now close to green-lighting an all-new mid-engined sports car.
According to a report by Auto Express, Honda is working on the baby NSX which will sit in between the NSX and the S660. In terms of the design, the baby NSX will share similarities to Honda's flagship sports hybrid supercar. It will also have an aluminum space frame with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) which allows the vehicle to weigh less than 1,400kg.
The baby NSX is reportedly “deep into development” and it will be fitted with a Civic Type R-sourced 2.0-liter turbo engine. Similar to the NSX, the vehicle will be fitted with three electric motors generating a total output of around 406 PS.
Auto Express adds that the baby NSX is not expected until 2018.
