Several months after its global debut in Bangkok,Thailand, Toyota Motor Philippines recently started accepting reservations for the all-new 2013 Toyota Vios. TMP even started parading it around the metro to give the public a chance to take a glimpse of it before its local launch that's set to happen on July 10.
To add a bit more hype, we got a copy of the spec sheet of the 2013 Toyota Vios, and here are some of the specific details about the 2013 Toyota Vios. We all know that it will be initially offered in six variants with the base, the J, the E and the G.
Overall, the 2013 Vios has been stretched to 4410mm (previous: 4300mm), raised to 1475mm tall (previous: 1460mm), though retains the same width at 1700mm. Wheelbase is the same at 2550mm, lending us to believe that the Vios has received a complete body change only, but retains the previous platform. It wil be interesting to note the how the extra 110mm of overhang will affect the drive, given the retained wheelbase yet stretched body.
The top of the line Vios 1.5G will be getting the 1NZ-FE engine (same as before) that's mated to a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission as well as disc brakes for the front and rear, pretty much the same as the previous generation G variants. Providing illumination are projector type headlamps equipped with halogen bulbs that's complemented by side turn signal lamps that's integrated to the power retractable exterior side view mirrors. It's front grille and door garnish will be finished in chrome for a more premium feel. Inside the cabin, the 1.5G range will enjoy an added multi-information display as well as six speakers and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.
Meanwhile, the rest of the 2013 Vios 1.3L variants will be equipped with the current 2NZ-FE 1.3-liter engine and 2-beam headlamps as standard. Some aesthetic differences are present across the range like the number of speakers in the cabin (4 for the E and 2 for the J and Base variants); steering wheel-mounted audio controls as well as power adjustable outer side view mirrors for the 1.3 E. Some more minor variations across the E, J and Base variants consists of the radiator grille and door garnish finish and the type of radio head unit.
Electronic brake distribution and brake assist comes as standard for the Vios G and E range. Also interesting to note is that Electric Power Steering is now standard on all 2013 Vios models.
