Spied: Ford Focus RS lives to see a new generation

Ford Focus RS hits the Green Hell for a shakedown

Are we looking at the next-generation Ford Focus RS? Well from the looks of things, this heavily camouflaged hatchbback looks to be a prototype of sorts. With Ford recently pulling the covers off the all-new Focus, it's no surprise that the Blue Oval brand is already busy giving this RS test mule through the ringer at the Green Hell.

Despite the camo livery covering the entire hatchback, we do see that this is in fact a Ford Focus albeit sporting subtle modifications. For starers, it has a much lower ride height, along with huge dual exhaust pipes sticking out the back.

It also has different side sills compared to the ST-Line offering, along with what appears to be a small Gurney flap on the rear wing. Other quirks seen on the test mule are the bigger disc brakes, slightly altered front and rear bumpers and revised taillights.

According to our insiders, the all-new Focus RS could make its debut some time in 2019 or 2020. This gives Ford plenty of time to work on the hot hatch which will apparently crank out around 400 PS, 50 PS more than the outgoing model. This could mean the all-new Focus RS will have an uprated EcoBoost engine and maybe an additional "oomph" from a 48V mild hybrid system.
