Spied: Hyundai seen testing funky-looking crossover anew

Hyundai's stylish new crossover spied inside and out

Hyundai is really keen on releasing a quirky crossover soon. Once again, our spies were able to take new pictures of the brand's funky crossover being tested on public roads.

Even with the heavy camouflage, it looks like Hyundai took a page from the Nissan Juke as the upcoming crossover sports a very distinct front fascia. The top portion appears to house the daytime running lights and the turn signals. Meanwhile, the lower section could be the crossover's headlights and foglights. Beyond that, the new crossover could also retain the signature hexagonal grill.

Around the back, it gets LED taillights, along with what appears to be a stylish tailgate. It is then topped off with five-spoke alloy wheels.

Apart from the exterior, our spies were also able to get a glimpse of the crossover's interior. Compared to the current cabin design used by Hyundai, the new crossover adopts a newer design. It has a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, dual-pod instrument cluster with multi-info display, touchscreen infotainment and automatic climate control.

Set to compete in the lucrative B-segment crossover, the new crossover could likely be based on the i20 platform and will use a myriad of components shared from both the i20 and i30. The drivetrain options might also carry over from both the i20 and i30. It may even be available with front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD).

It is apparently slated for a 2017 release and could go up against the likes of the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur and Opel Mocca X.
