Manila's car crazy crowd are waiting yet again for another year of the styling and tuning madness at the 6th Manila Auto Salon. The SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia will once again house this much awaited car enthusiasts' gathering on November 29 to December 2, 2012.
"This is the only motor show focused on the automotive aftermarket industry," explains organizer Tradeshow International Inc. President, Sophie de los Santos. "Speaking in the language of the marketers, the Manila Auto Salon is the closest link to your target market within the broad demography of car enthusiasts!"
Every year the Manila Auto Salon brings out the best and brightest in the car tuning scene in the country. Many of the participants actually worked their way up winning at the smaller events like parking lot shows and mall competitions. After each win, the car owners gain more confidence and prestige to finally make it to the pinnacle of the styling and tuning world - the Manila Auto Salon. Competitors know that from where they are now, the show is their next, and final big step.
"Kung nakadating ka na sa Manila Auto Salon, kasabay mo ang mga big boys" says Derrick D., a resident of Cavite who started his lowered Lancers and pooled money to come into the event. Now he is doing brisk business modifying cars in his little garage. "Kung sa pagalingan lang kayang-kaya naming ang mga big boys, kasi kahit kulang kami sa pera, puno naman kami sa puso."
Rubbing elbows with the big boys is what gives the appeal to most competitors at the show. Some go for extreme styling and tuning that makes the car impractical to run on the road and yet some go for high-tech modifications that eke out the most power from the engines. Whatever approach is chosen what is clear is that the Manila Auto Salon provides a venue to showcase talents.
Manila Auto Salon fans are eagerly anticipating this year's show, sending their greetings through the Facebook page. With nearly 10,000 fans, the appeal of the show is indeed across the board. Already the pressure is building up as competitors are trying to sneak a peek at what the others are planning or doing, using Facebook as the method of investigation.
Restyling giants such as A-toy Customs and Starbright Bodykits make sure that they have new designs to launch and thrill the customers. Their big pavilion displays are among those which are sought after by the visitors.
Andy Cheng, Starbright Body Kits big boss and long time patron of the show explains, "Manila Auto Salon provides everyone a fair chance to show what he can do and get the respect and award for it. There is no other choice."
When asked what he wished for in the show he said "that more car manufacturers actually allow the tuners to highlight their amazing cars by their amazing creations."
"Manila Auto Salon will never cease to amaze," continues Miss de los Santos. "Every year there is something new to see or an event to behold. This has brought in sponsors and participants every year which is good for the industry and for the market. They come back because they know that brand recall is so very important - something that can only be done when you unite the brand with the consumer."
"But booths and competition slots are limited," warns Miss de los Santos. "We encourage everyone who wants a slot to come in, as over 85% of the available slots have been taken since early September. "We have reserved some more slots in viable areas of the show for the late comers. But hurry, these will run out soon."
AutoIndustriya.com, one of the country's leading automotive websites will also be holding the 3rd AutoIndustriya.com GT5 Challenge at this year's event which will gather some of the country's best players of the cult game Gran Turismo 5 in Time Attack Challenges through the different courses of the game driving selected vehicles.
For 2012, the proximate distance from another Tradeshow International organized crowd drawing event--the 20th DEFENSE AND SPORTING ARMS SHOW - brings a total market size to about 100,000 spectators.
